In His Own Words:
I’m Jourdan and this is a page about my hobby: Magic. My forte: a Card Hustler – Producing impromptu magic tricks with an army of fifty-two. I love card magic because it is practical, up-close, and personal. After a performance, I’m often asked how I got started. Being the mischievous and rebellious teenager of my family, magic turned out to be more a necessity than a call for entertainment.
Police Officer: “Son, is that marijuana you just stashed in your pocket?”
Me: “Absolutely not. Unless you’re referring to the marijuana behind your ear… TADA!”
Boy that was a fun day!
But in all seriousness, I suppose magic did hold some entertainment value. The art of magic was a good fit for my personality — my natural curiosity for psychology and the inherent rewards for careful practice held my attention for hours at a time. My goal with this page is to try and share my love of magic with everyone. In closing, I’ll leave you with an interesting astrological correlation with a deck of cards:
There are 52 cards in a deck, and 52 weeks in a year. Just as there are four suites in a deck, there are four seasons in a year. There are 13 values in each suite, and 13 lunar cycles in each year.
To elaborate on the commonly used colloquialism, It’s just the hand I was dealt: Life is exactly like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism, and the way you play it is free will.
